A Guide on What to Wear to La Jolla Cove in the Spring

I have always said that I wanted to buy a home near the beach. My visit to La Jolla Cove has certainly reinforced that dream. I was so excited to visit La Jolla because of all the amazing things I’ve heard about it. I woke up this particular day ready to feel the wind hit my skin, hear the waves crashing, and see some sea lions. But first I needed to decide on an outfit, so here is my guide on what to wear to the beach in the spring.

Bathing Suit

In the spring wearing a bathing suit to the beach is not an automatic “duh” because let’s face it the weather just might not be right. Well, if you visited San Diego, CA before then you know that the weather there is just absolutely beautiful. This particular day was perfect for the beach. So a bathing suit is what I wore, but I still covered up.

If you follow me on Instagram (@djsstyle) then you might have seen my poll when I was deciding on what swimsuit to wear. The vote was between my Cotton On leopard swimsuit featured or my colorful floral Target swimsuit. I was happy with the results because the majority chose the leopard option, and that’s the one I wore. I love the bandeau swimsuits this year! You can’t see in my photos but this swimsuit has a matching high-waisted bottom that you buy separately.

Shorts or Jeans

Another thing I couldn’t decide on was whether I should wear jeans or shorts. I opted for jeans because although the day time can be warm, the nights are not as much. I bought these jeans right before my trip and I loved them because of the ripped details.

Cover-Up

Okay, I am not sure if you would consider what I wore a cover-up or a cardigan, but nevertheless it did its job which was to stylishly cover me up. I love cover-ups! I’m so in love with this one because of the crochet details. I really can’t wait to style it again!

Sneakers or Sandals

This beach day I wore my platform sandals which are so comfortable, and I received so many compliments on them. Now although they were comfortable, I wouldn’t recommend you wear sandals like these if you are planning on climbing the rocks to see the sea lions. By the way, the sea lions are amazing, a must see if you’re visiting La Jolla. I’m not going to lie, there were moments where I wished I styled a pair of sneakers. But I think I did well maneuvering through the rocks of La Jolla in platform sandals. The moral of the story is just make sure you wear something comfortable, but still chic.
